WOODCROFT LOCAL GOVERNING COMMITTEE
Mrs L. Hyde (Chair)
Lian joined our team of Governors 18 months ago and took up the position of Chair of Governors in September 2023. She has two children who attend the school and was keen to become involved in supporting Woodcroft Academy in a Governing role.
Lian's background lies in Primary teaching and working with children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). She taught in a large special school in Gloucester for 17 years and worked with pupils from 2-16 years old. Her specialisms include working with children with a wide range of autistic spectrum disorders (and related behavioural issues), early years education and managing maths, music (including singing and signing) and arts subjects across the board.
She relocated back to her home town of Leek to be closer to family. Lian attended Woodcroft over 35 years ago and subsequently as a student 20 years ago! Woodcroft has a special place in her heart and she hopes to positively support the school in areas of Governing life.

Mr A. Geens (Vice Chair)
Adam has seen both his children pass through Woodcroft Academy and took up the role of Parent Governor in 2020, keen to support the academy on its journey. His professional role is Head of Outdoor Education for Stoke-on-Trent which includes managing Stanley Head OEC and operating as the City’s Outdoor Education Adviser. Both roles involve Adam working with a wide range of schools from Stoke, Staffordshire Moorlands and further afield and although predominantly office-based, he enjoys nothing more than delivering a range of adventurous activities to children during the busier periods.
When not working, Adam can probably be found down a cave with his two boys, jogging around the streets of Leek, or out in the Peak District with his family.
