Woodcroft Forest School

We are delighted to announce that Woodcroft Academy actively enhanced the curriculum through the provision of outdoor learning for all children.

All of our children are fortunate to have the opportunity to develop their science skills and an appreciation for the great outdoors.

Our dedication to outdoor learning encourages wider thinking skills such as problem solving, lateral thinking and develops children’s confidence. These opportunities enthuse the children about what a wonderful environment we are fortunate to have, here at Woodcroft and within the locality.

Each class benefits of a whole term of outdoor education and takes place on a weekly basis.

For children to fully experience the outdoor learning parents are asked to ensure children have appropriate, warm clothing including boots as the children will inevitably be getting muddy.

A Kit list would include

  • A winter coat

  • Waterproofs (a waterproof coat and trousers or a puddle suit)

  • An extra layer (a jumper or two and, as it gets colder an extra layer of leg covering if possible)

  • Hat & gloves

  • Long sleeved top and full leg coverage (this is to protect from scratches and nettles etc)

  • Waterproof boots/wellies

  • An extra pair of socks  (for cold weather)
